DH.9a NINAK - Wingnut Wings 32007 Late in the Great War, the DH.9a was developed to succeed the DH.4, but due to its 230-horsepower Puma engine’s unreliability, it didn’t fare as well as originally intended. Production on the DH.9a began in January of 1918 with 400 originally ordered. Another 4,000 USD-9A American versions were ordered, but with the Armistice, the procurement was canceled, with only 13 USD-9As built.
